GPs in Training
Our practice is approved to train fully qualified doctors who wish to specialise in general practice. Our GP registrar will have had 2-4 years of experience as a qualified hospital doctor working in various specialities. They consult patients on their own, under the mentorship of our trainers, Dr's Springett and Dr Dickins.
At our practice, some consultations with GP registrars may be recorded to support their learning and improve the quality of care we provide.
Why are consultations recorded?
Recordings are used for:
- Training and feedback
- Supporting GP registrars to develop their consultation skills
- Ensuring high standards of patient care
Do I have to agree?
No. Recording is completely optional.
- Your care will not be affected in any way if you choose not to be recorded
- You can decline at any time, including during the consultation
How do you ask for my consent?
We will:
- Ask for your consent in advance via a secure message
- Confirm your consent again at the start of the consultation
Recording will only take place if you clearly agree.
Who can see the recording?
- Only your GP registrar and their supervising GP trainer
- No one else will have access
How is my information kept safe?
Recordings are:
- Made using a secure, practice-owned device
- Not uploaded to any external systems or cloud services
- Stored securely with restricted access
We follow strict data protection standards, including UK GDPR.
How long is the recording kept?
- Recordings are viewed for training purposes only
- They are deleted shortly after review (usually within 72 hours)
- Once deleted, they cannot be recovered
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Decline recording
- Withdraw your consent at any time
- Ask questions about how your data is used

Medical Students
Medical students are sometimes attached to the practice for 2 – 3 weeks as part of their training. If you do not wish a student to be present during your consultation, please inform the receptionist.
