Appointmentspen_on_diary

Ring our main switchboard number on 0113 2310626 to book an appointment to see a GP or nurse.

You can help us by being on time for your appointment and letting us know in good time if you can’t attend.

It is practice policy that anyone who fails to attend 3 or more appointments within 12 months will asked to register with another practice in the area.

We use a free text message appointment reminder service. Patients not wishing to receive these reminders can opt of out this facility at any time.

Patients often ask why the receptionists ask patients what their appointment is for, this is so we can book your appointment with the most appropriate person. It can also help us to know if you will need an appointment longer than the standard 10 minutes and also to know how quickly you need to be seen if you have an urgent medical problem.

If you are newly pregnant & need to book antenatal care, you can book directly with the midwife via our reception, there is no need to see a doctor first.

We appreciate that some patients may not wish to disclose what type of problem they have, and it is perfectly acceptable to refuse to offer this information to the receptionist.

'One Problem Per Consultation'

We kindly ask that all patients try and stick to our ‘One Problem Per Consultation’ policy.  The main reason for this request is for clinical safety.

We know that getting an appointment with the doctor is sometimes difficult and that some patients ‘save’ their problems and present them to the doctor at the same time, with or without a list. We also know that the doctor or nurse may run late.

Each appointment is only 10 minutes long. Presenting the clinician with multiple problems means that there is a real increased risk that mistakes will be made and things to be missed as the clinician may be inclined to rush, particularly if other patients are waiting.

Doctors cannot see huge numbers of patients with multiple problems and continue to practice safely and effectively.  A stressed doctor will struggle to be a good and safe doctor.

Therefore please do not be offended if the doctor asks you to rebook for your other problems. We are working in your best interests in order to keep you safe.

SystmOnline

We have a system called SystmOnline. Systmonline allows you to book appointments over the internet as well as order your repeat prescriptions.

Please ask at reception about registering for this service.

We can only give you your own log in details and any for children under 16.  This must also be done at reception, not over the telephone.
